Alleged Corruption: Kaduna Speaker speaks on plan to impeach Governor el-Rufa’i

Following alleged plots to impeach Kaduna State Governor, Nasir Ahmed el-Rufa’i, the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Speaker, Hon. Yusuf Zailani, has reacted.

Recall that on Saturday, there were reports on social media that the state House of Assembly has begun an impeachment move against Governor el-Rufa’i over alleged corruption charges.

Reacting, Zailani said there is no plan to impeach the governor. Also, the SA Media and Publicity to the Speaker, Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani, in an issued press statement yesterday, noted that the reports is the handiwork of opposition and enemies of progress of the relationship between the Legislative arm of the Government and the Executive under the able leadership of el-Rufa’i.

He said the false report was aired apparently to create crises between the arms of the Government and in order to deny the good people of Kaduna State the dividends of democracy they are benefitting.

It further stated: The report, which also said the relationship between the governor and the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Yusuf Zailani, has been frosty for quite some time now and is also nothing but the figment of the imagination of the writer and perhaps their sponsors.

The statement described as untrue the claim that the state lawmakers are currently investigating the expenditures of all the Ministries, Agencies and parastatals of the State Government. It further added that the entire report is maliciously concocted to misinform the general public and should be disregarded in its entirety.

According to the statement, the origin of the purported report will be thoroughly investigated with the view to bringing the perpetrators and their sponsors to book to serve as a deterrent to others.
